Choose Organic for Your Baby

There’s no shortage of colorful crib sets to choose for your baby, but an organic bedding set is the most essential.

The usual crib baby products are not made with the health of your child in mind, as a newborn should not be exposed to an array of synthetics, toxic dyes, and other potentially harmful chemicals used in commercial production.

Crib bumpers are important in preventing your baby from getting stuck between or hitting the bars. Since they surround the baby completely in the crib, one must be mindful of the materials these are made out of.

From 0-6 months of age, the baby is still developing the immune system’s ability to properly cool his or her body, which is why babies sweat so often. With this in mind, we need to surround the baby with breathable fabrics to prevent overheating or dehydration. Non-breathable polyester and cotton-poly blends are not breathable, and would cause feelings of suffocation and stress to the newborn.

The newborn’s skin and undeveloped pores are incredibly delicate. Compared to us, they can intimately feel the minute softness and harshness of the material they’re touching. Polyester is never recommended for babies, as regular cottons, silks, Egyptian cotton, cotton velvet, wool, satins, and sateen are preferred. Of course, 100% Organic Cotton bedding provides the ideal mix of softness, cleanliness, and relief from allergic reactions for a newborn child.

Here at MyOrganicSleep, baby products that come into direct contact with the child's skin are organic, like our fitted sheets, duvet covers, and mattress pads
